Dress Code Disciplinary Action
Administrative Guideline for Enforcement of TBI Student Uniform Dress Regulations:

1. First Offense:
  • The student will be written up for Dress Code Violation and  taken to the office.
  • The student’s parent is called or contacted and requested to bring the appropriate attire to
    school for the student.
  • The parent brings the attire and the student changes into it and is sent to class or the
    parent fails to bring the attire and the student is suspended and a parent conference is
    scheduled ASAP.*
  • 1 Demerit (2 demerits student will have after school detention, ISSP,  or Saturday School.
    (See detention for more details in student handbook)

* If the school has extra uniforms on hand staff may provide one to the student.

2. Second Offense:
  • The student will be written up for Dress Code Violation and  taken to the office.
  • The parent is called for a conference and required to bring the student’s appropriate
    school attire.
  • The parent is called and asked to take the student home for the day and to send the
    student back to school the next school day appropriately attired.
  • 1 Demerit (2 demerits student will have after school detention or Saturday School. (See
    detention for more details in student handbook)

3. Third Offense:
  • The student will be written up for Dress Code Violation and  taken to the office
  • The parent is contacted for a conference and requested to pick up the student ASAP.
  • The principal or his/her designee shall determine the appropriate ways to enforce the dress
    code policy.
  
    These possible ways could range from suspension from school for failure to comply, or in-
    school suspension for a number of days, to placing the student on probation for
    insubordination.

4. Fourth Offense:
  • The student will be written up for Dress Code Violation and  taken to the office
  • The student is suspended from school and change of placement procedures are now an
    option.
  • The parent must return to the school with the student at the end of the suspension.
  • Students that have been issued ISSP, after school detention, or Saturday School for a dress
    code violation and continue to violate School Dress Code Violation will result in a two-day
    suspension. (Student will receive zeros for those days; they may do the work but will not
    receive credit for it.) (See suspension for more details in student handbook)

5. Fifth and All Subsequent Offenses:
  • The student will be written up for Dress Code Violation and  taken to the office
  • Student will be withdrawn from The Beverly Institute.

NOTE: When students are taken to the office for being inappropriately dressed, they cannot re-
enter the class until they are appropriately attired.
