Health – Related Issues
Students who become aware of any health-related issues should notify their teacher of health status as soon as
possible.  Student will be administered a clinic pass, to receive further assistance in our school.

A Student who is ill or running a fever should be kept at home.  When the school deems a student ill, parents will
be contacted and must pick their child.  A sick child will not be allowed to remain at the school.

* Clinic
The school clinic located inside the school office has operating hours from 8:15 am -4:30 pm. The School has a
RCN “Registered Certified Nurse” Certified to dispense medication.  The RCN is responsible for administering
medication, notifying parents and documenting the clinic medication log book.  Students are sent to the clinic
with a clinic referral when medication needs to be administered or when students are not feeling well.

* Head Lice
If it is discovered that a student has head lice or “nits” (eegs), the student may not return to the school until the
school is furnished with a statement form his/her physician or Duval County Health Department (DCSF No Nits
Policy).

* Communicable Disease
The term “communicable diseases” shall mean an illness that arises as a result of a specific infectious agent,
which may be transmitted either directly or indirectly by a susceptible host or infected person or animal to other
persons.  If your child develops a communicable disease, please contact the school immediately.

Student may not return to the school until the school is furnished with a statement from his/her physician or Duval
County Health Department that they are no longer contagious.

* Student Requiring Medial Attention
Students should report all injuries and accidents immediately to their teacher.  Teacher will call parents and file
an accident report with school and parents.

* Medications
All medications, along with instructions, must be kept in the clinic area only.  Parents will be given a medical
authorization form at registration or Student / Parent Orientation to be completed and return to the school front
office.  The authorization allows medical staff and office staff to administer basic medications (i.e. Tylenol,
Benedryl, antacids, etc..) and treatment in case of minor illnesses and injuries.

Parents may send medication, breathing machines, inhalers etc.. to the school office for their child as long as
instructions for administering are included.  If it is prescription medication, any previous dosage given for that day
must be indicated in writing to prevent over medicating doses will be given according to what is on the label and
you must notify the office of the last dosage given.
